A little twist on WIWW

So, WIWW normally stands for "What I Wore Wednesday" on various blogs, but since I (AGAIN) forgot to take pics of my outfits this week, I decided to feature some of my new finds.  Therefore, today's WIWW stands for "What I WILL Wear."

Oh, and in case you're interested, I'm part of some WIWW link-ups here:

As I've mentioned before, I love to shop, so if I'm out and about picking up things like food or toiletries, I always manage to swing by a few clearance sections.

I mean, does that say it all or what?

Speaking of Target's clearance section, I picked up these babies - each for $3 or under (plus an additional 5% off with my REDcard).  Can't beat that.  These are great for PJs, layering, or whatever!

I wanted to check Old Navy for polos and shorts for my son (which I found!), and while I was there I somehow ended up in the women's clearance section.  Unfortunately, it was a complete and utter disaster area, but I managed to find three excellent deals.  (Let's be real - I always manage.)

Deal #1: Coral Striped Maxi - originally $35 - on sale for $20

(I already have the black striped one like this and I love it, so I figured I'd get this color.  I think it'll look great even in the fall with a navy cardigan.  By the way, please ignore the terrible photo.  I was in a rush so I just stuck it on the back of my closet door and snapped away.)

Deals #2 & 3: Vintage V-Neck Tee & Silver Hoop Earrings
The tee and earrings were $4 each.  I mean, they were practically giving them away.

Then I had a 10% off coupon that I was able to use on my whole purchase.  With these deals, plus my son's three pairs of shorts and two polos, I only paid around $40!

These next purchases were from my trip to Kohl's last week.  I had Kohl's cash, a birthday coupon, and another coupon that had come in the mail, so I headed out on a mission to pick up some Mother's Day presents for my mom and mom-in-law.  After I found some things for them, I booked it over to the jewelry clearance section.

I mean, after all...

So here's what I found.  Happy Mother's Day to me.

Let's break this down:

Vera Wang necklace = $7 and change
"M" adjustable cuff bracelet = $3 and change
Apt. 9 gold bar earrings = $2 and change

I then popped over to the shoe department because I was DESPERATELY in need of a new pair of sneakers.  I know I'm usually sarcastic when I say I need something when I'm out shopping, but this time it's the truth.  In fact, this is embarrassing, but I'm going to tell you anyway... the last time I bought a pair of real sneakers (like, not fashion sneakers) was in 2005.  I know.  Gross.  It was right before my then boyfriend/now husband and I headed off on a cruise to Alaska.  Since then, I've only worn them when necessary.  Otherwise, I default to pretty much any other kind of shoe.  (Can you tell that working out is not a priority for me?)

I found these (see below).  I loved them when I first saw them because, well, HELLO coral and purple.  And they were $22!  But then I brought them home and was like, "What did I do?  Do I look like I belong in a workout video from the '80s?"

So I did what any fashion-savvy but sometimes confused girl would do - I texted a picture to my friend to get another opinion.  My friend Amanda was in Denver for a wedding, but obviously this was important.  Her response?  She loves bright sneakers and owns (at least) two pairs of colorful ones.  Done deal.

I got some pretty good deals, huh?  BUT WAIT.  Oh, wait.  With my Kohl's cash, birthday coupon, mail coupon, my total that day came to $0.09.  Yes, you read that right: NINE CENTS, people!  And that price includes the two Mother's Day gifts I picked out!

Does anyone else get SO excited by deals?  It's the best thing.  And that's why this next image rubs me the WRONG WAY.

Seriously, who says that?  I'll tell you who.  A man... that's who.

Sit tight, people.  I have more to share.

These next beauties came home with me yesterday.  I had $30 in gift certificates to DSW, and since DSW was right next to Old Navy, I figured I might as well go in and peruse the clearance section.  You never know what you're going to find, right?  Like Coach moccasins.  In coral.  (I'm on a coral kick, apparently.)

Was I looking for anything like these?  Absolutely not.  I thought I'd find a cute pair of flip flops or sandals or flats.  But I didn't look at ANYTHING that wasn't in the clearance section.  I didn't let myself.

Picture this:  I had metaphorical blinders on and just speed-walked to the very back of the store.
(I have to be honest... it was SO hard.)

But then, there they were.  And they were 70% off.  And I had gift certificates to use.  And I paid $24 for them.  And they are normally $100 more than that.  That's what I call a win.  WIIIIIIIIN.
I'm looking forward to wearing them with trouser jeans, especially.  They are so, so comfortable but I would have NEVER paid full price.

Okay - one last item to share with you.  This shirt:

I actually purchased this for $10 from a blogger who was trying to get rid of some clothes.  Thanks, Kim!  I love it.  It reminds me of a Monet painting.

Oh, before you go, I forgot to tell you... I felt a bit selfish with all of my purchases, so I told my husband I'd get him this:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Is this not one of the most hysterical things you've ever seen?  A unisex V-neck sleepshirt?  And look how happy the male model looks in it with his morning cup o' joe.  Nothing like a good sleepshirt.

Well, enough shopping for me for a while.  (That will be hard.  Very hard.  MUST... NOT... GO... SHOPPING.)

Hope you'll stop back tomorrow for this week's "Thankful Thursday."

Wait a second...

I like this idea better.  It's so much more, well, me.

  1. Ah - a fellow bargain hunter... clearance + discount coupons + gift cards = swoon! I LOVE the Target Merona tanks - I have at least 8 of them in all sorts of colors... they are so versatile and wash great! And the man sleepshirt... hmmm... if it were in red, you could try to convince hubby to wear it in the spirit of Christmas... Have a good day!

    1. Thanks, Shaunacey! By the way, you have the most beautiful, unique name. I've never heard it before. Do you go by a nickname or the whole thing? Which syllable is accented? I'm assuming it's SHAUN-a-cey, but I could be wrong!
      Thanks for stopping by!
