WIWW - What I Wore Wednesday - 5/6/15

Okay, so my plan was to do a "What I Wore Wednesday" post today, but when I sat down to compose it, I realized I had no pictures of what I've been wearing.  I'll get on that.  Soon.  I think.  (I hope.)

That is totally me.  The less laundry, the better!!

So, in lieu of MY outfits this week, I thought it'd be fun to check out what some of the stars wore two nights ago to the Met Gala in NYC.  There were definitely some, ahem, statement outfits - a la Sarah Jessica Parker:

I mean, what IS that?!  I'm all about being fashion forward, especially at a fashion event, but - seriously - what the heck?!  The first thing I thought of when I saw her is Ninjago.  Are you familiar?  Probably not if you don't have a young child at home!  To be honest, I had never heard of Ninjago before a few weeks ago when my son became obsessed.  I mean, OB..SESSED.  I don't say that lightly, people.

If you don't know anything about it, here's one picture so you can understand the comparison to Miss SJP:

See where I was going with that?  She'd fit right in to that picture.

There are a few other comparisons that People.com made as well.  They gave me a good chuckle.  Have a look-see: click here.  You've GOTTA see them.  Don't just pass over that link.  Don't you do it.  They're HYSTERICAL!!!

(Just FYI - I love me some Sarah JP.  I do.  Her fashion choices definitely would not be mine, but I love her all the same!)

Now that I got that out of my system, let's move on to my favorites.  First up, Keri Russell:

I love the colors, the texture, the hair and make-up -- just everything.  It's very peacock-y, and it's gorgeous.  The only thing I think could be improved are the shoes.  I like them - I do - but I would have loved to see a pop of something instead of just black.  Wouldn't a coral heel be cool?

Next up - Uma Thurman.

She looks beautiful.  And those legs!  I want them.  I am going to start standing like she is here.  Maybe it will catch on and we'll all be doing it.  I mean, look how flattering that pose is!  We'd all look like swans.  All. the. time.

On to Kate Beckinsale.  I have always, always thought she was stunning, and I usually love her fashion choices.  No exception here.

It looks like she got some work done, like her lips or something, right?  Either way, I still think she's so pretty.  I love the top of the dress and the shape on her, but my favorite thing about this look is how "old Hollywood" it is with the hair - and then how it's all juxtaposed with the dark nail and toe polish.  Classic yet still trendy.  Love.

(Side note - I love the word "juxtaposition."  I try to incorporate it as often as possible in my daily conversations.)

Now let's check out Helen Mirren's dress.

The red color is so flattering on her, and I love the cut-outs.  Very in right now.  She looks super tiny in this, too.  Look at her waist!

Okay - last one.  Here is Reese Witherspoon, also in red:

Some critics didn't care for her look, but I thought her dress looks great.  Her make-up doesn't really look like it's done, though, and - although I like her shoes - I probably would have gone with a metallic of some sort to match her jewelry.  I just am not a huge fan of matchy/matchy.  (I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I go to the Met Gala.)

Weren't these outfits so much better than what I would have shown you from my closet?  I was mostly in sweats and yoga pants this past week anyway.  BOR-ING.

Hoping to do my "Thankful Thursday" post tomorrow on the blog, but my little guy got sick last night (fever and vomiting - yuck!), so not sure if it will happen yet.

Oh, and one more thing...

TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!  You know - just a subtle reminder.

LOVE this post, and you're right, something looks a little different with Kate... I think it's the lips too! But she still looks stunning and dress is perfect.
